Whether I am working with figures or nature-based images, my paintings are a shorthand response to my experience. Drawing is central to my work, which often begins with small pencil-and-wash studies.
These are developed into larger works on paper or canvas. To capture the immediacy and vitality of
the subject, the final paintings are made fairly quickly, after many studies.
